We invite all of our presenters to pick at least one of the fun and easy tasks. It’s a great way to make some new friends and help the meeting run smoothly — and there’s candy!

Move to the front row table reserved for next-up speakers at least two speakers ahead of your time for a quick and smooth transition. Slides must be pre-loaded on the podium laptop during a break before your time slot, ideally, before 8:30 am. Bring a USB flash drive.

Traditional Oral Presentation

This traditional conference-style presentation allows presenters to deliver a detailed overview of their research or project.

Information:

  • 20-minute time block: 12-15-minute presentation with remaining time for questions and the transition to the next speaker.
  • Presenters have the flexibility to use as many slides as needed to effectively communicate their work
  • Review the notes from Dr. Jacqui Week’s Traditional Presentation Best Practices webinar.
  • Bring a USB flash drive to load your slides on the laptop at the podium between 8-8:30 am on the day of your presentation. Personal laptops cannot be used to present.
  • For smooth transitions between speakers, move to the front row that is reserved for the next-up speakers before your session begins.
  • A clicker will be provided to advance your slides
  • We recommend professional attire when presenting
  • Presentations are judged. The top two in each category will be recognized on Wednesday afternoon during closing remarks.
  • Do not disclose any unprotected intellectual property (IP)

3-Minutes @ Mines

A concise, dynamic presentation designed to communicate the essence of your project in just three minutes.

Information:

  • 10-minute time block; 3-minute presentation with remaining time for questions and transition.

Poster Presentation

An interactive, informal presentation format where researchers display posters summarizing their work and discuss their findings with attendees during a networking-style session.

Information:

  • Poster Session – Tuesday, February 10, from 3:30-5:30 pm in the main meeting room
  • Review the notes from Dr. Jacqui Week’s Poster Design Best Practices webinar.
  • Arrive early on Tuesday morning to hang your poster before 8:30 am.  If you arrive late, you must wait until there is break out of respect for the speaker.
  • Match your number to the poster board number. Pins are provided.
  • All posters will remain on display until Wednesday at lunchtime
  • Posters must be vertical/portrait orientation; not exceeding 36 wide x 48 tall. Posters can be smaller, but never larger. Do NOT bring a horizontal poster to the meeting because space is limited on the shared poster boards.
  • We do not have a way for guests to print posters on campus, but there is a UPS and a FedEx near campus. The free, OreCart Tungsten Route shuttle will get you to either one.
  • Professional attire is recommended for presenters
